Beatbox tutorial - Making new beats

Another wordy video, this time offering tips on creating, writing, and recording your own beats. I do not know why I’m so quiet throughout… something to watch out for next time I guess. The freestyle in the middle is genuinely freestyled – I’d never done it before. It’s an experiment – try it yourselves, beatbox something you’ve never done before. It can give some decent results. It’s worth noting regarding notation that I don’t actually use Standard Beatbox Notation in it’s rawest form – I use too many sounds that are specifically mine to do that and it’s also very confusing for those less musically trained. My method has the drawback that timing is hard to follow, but ah well, it works. So, to recap… -Listen to music you like (I highly recommend rock – the drum fills are awesome to follow) -Jam along with music -Learn to write beatbox somehow -Record yourselves -Start with the basics Described as “[one] of the finest exponents of the hip-hop discipline” by YouTube’s music blog, Fat Tony’s tutorial series is THE definitive guide to learning how to beatbox.
